The Netherlands have many beautiful, protected nature reserves and this is one of them. Situated in the Green Heart region which is well known for it’s stretched flat vistas that go on for miles, this lake- and swamp area is pure joy for a biker on a windstil day.

We took an extensive 35km biking route starting and ending at Bodegraven around the entire area.

Should you be more of a car driver: a cabriolet tour on a warm day with stopovers for ice-cream, and a walk around a site that catches your eye are definitely something you should try. You can use the majority of the above bike route for this purpose skipping marker 80.

You can also rent a boat, canoe or kayak and hum along the beautiful moors. If you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of a fox or a buzzard.

This tour can be an activity for an entire day, will delight with many highlights and is definitely something you should have on your list of things to do when visiting the Green Heart region (Het Groene Hart).
